Harmony Scholarships

Graduation

"Harmony" means "grandmother" in the Korean language. In the English language, one definition of "harmony" is "the quality of forming a pleasing and consistent whole." In honor of her grandmother, a friend of Northwest Community Center is making it possible for high school seniors with a refugee or immigrant background to receive Harmony Scholarships. Scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors who live in the Vickery Meadow community and are pursuing higher education after graduation (Community College, University, etc.) This inaugural year, students already pursuing a college degree are also eligible to apply.

Who Qualifies?

To be eligible for this tuition scholarship, a refugee and immigrant applicant must be a graduating senior and a current or former resident of the Vickery Meadow community. If awarded, you must maintain a 3.0 GPA as well as  good conduct with your school.

This scholarship applies to educational schools; a technical school may also be considered.

This inaugural year, students who are already in a college or technical school are also eligible to apply, provided they have maintained at least a 3.0 GPA and are in good standing with the school.

What Else Do I Need To Know?

Scholarship applicants will be interviewed by a member of a scholarship committee.

If awarded, scholarship money will be sent directly to your chosen school for you. Scholarships are for tuition. There is also potential for tuition funding for up to four years of your higher education.

We also request to post your photo and essay answer on this scholarship website (see consent form page on the application).

We ask that you would give back to the community of refugees or immigrants while attending school. If needed, we can help to connect you to a place to volunteer and serve for 10 hours each semester.

Scholarship recipients agree to maintain periodic contact with a scholarship committee advisor.

How Do I Apply?
